There are three general categories of refurbished medical equipment. One of them is visual refurbishment. This implies that a device has been tested and is fully functional but has received some visual enhancement. For instance, dents and scratches may have been repaired, the paint retouched and/or cushions replaced. In other words, basically cosmetic changes have been made and there is no guarantee for how long the equipment will work.
The second category of refurbished equipment comprises devices with major parts replacement. This signifies that the device is fully functional as a result of internal enhancement through the replacement of major parts (dysfunctional or worn out). It can also mean that upgrades in performance specifications have been made.
The third category is of fully refurbished medical equipment. This generally includes devices which have been completely restored to their original condition and functionality. They are upgraded with new technology, comply with safety standards and are either under existing or new warranty.
